book a Bahamas cruise with Prescott Travel Agency - Bruce BrennerMany have dreamed about the day that they might get to take a cruise to the Bahamas.  Why continue to dream?  Why not make your dream a reality and book a cruise today with Prescott Travel Agent Bruce Brenner.  Reading up on the Bahamas and some of the highlights is a great place to start when planning your trip.

The Bahamas, which became independent in 1973, is up of s made 700 islands (of which maybe 30 are inhabited) and more than 2,000 cays, all scattered across the ocean. They stretch from Grand Bahama Island -- about 75 miles east of Palm Beach, Florida -- to Great Inagua -- about 60 miles to the northeast of Cuba. The geography can be confusing -- the Bahamas is in the Atlantic but crosses into the Caribbean.

Nearly 60 percent of the overall population lives on New Providence Island.  Whether your off to lay on the beach or looking for some gambling action in a casino the island offer something for everyone. Freeport is the Bahamas' fourth-largest island and is where you’ll find the casinos.  Larger than Freeport is Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas. It is the center of all the islands' industry, commerce and communications. It has one of the largest straw markets; however there are no casinos here.

The best time to take a Bahama cruise usually November though May.  The Sun is usually shining (more than 300 days a year) and the temperature usually stays around 80 degrees. The rainy season goes from May through October, but rain is generally short-lived. The hurricane season picks up in August and can last through November.

Many cruise lines travel to the Bahamas including Carnival, Disney, Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean; as well as premium line Celebrity.  Most cruises begin on the Eastern Seaboard or Gulf Coast offering affordable voyages, typically ranging from three to seven nights. Many lines will tack on a stop in the Bahamas, even if just at a private island, on a regular Caribbean cruise. Celebration Cruise Line sails only to the Bahamas on two-night trips.
